Hello LPHS Members and Visitors!
Welcome and Thank You for visiting our website! As you know in July, 2011, I became President of The Lower Pottsgrove Historical Society (LPHS). I guess after chairing two successful Strawberry Festivals, the members think I can handle running the entire organization. Only time will tell, and you‘ll need to form your own opinion. In the meantime I do appreciate this honor and realize I have some big shoes to fill for the past presidents have all done an awesome job with this organization. I plan to do the same. A little bit about me. I was born, raised, and stuck around Sanatoga. My parents still live in the same house where I grew up, across from the chapel. I only live about 2 minutes down the street. Coincidently my dad, John, is 1st Vice President, and mom, Janet, is Secretary of LPHS. The Scherers are a dedicated group to LPHS! I am a graduate of Pottsgrove High School, Montgomery County Community College, and have been in the commercial insurance business over 25 years. I have been a member of LPHS for many years as well as the Sanatoga Fire Company Auxiliary. I have served as a Board Member on my Home Owners Association and serve on my class reunion committee. I have been writing monthly Lower Pottsgrove history articles for The Sanatoga Post since the beginning of 2011. I never realized how much history there is in Lower Pottsgrove but am finding out as I write articles for The Sanatoga Post. This area was hopping back in the day! I am slowly but surely becoming a Lower Pottsgrove history buff and loving it! I would like for you to get just as excited as I am about Lower Pottsgrove history. I encourage you to join LPHS and find out for yourself what we are all about. Come to our museum and take a trip back in time. Perhaps you’ll even find an item or two that will trigger your own memories. A fond memory I have every time I step into that museum is brought on by seeing the sign for Kemps - I miss that little store! You may not have grown up in Lower Pottsgrove but if you live here now and you have children growing up here, please join us in ‘Preserving Our Heritage’.
In brief, you should know the following about us. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM at the Sanatoga Chapel,2341 E. High St. in Sanatoga, PA.
